Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 Aug 2026. This describes what actually happens on this site - not boilerplate copied from somewhere else.

The short version

Deposit Defense doesn't have user accounts, doesn't ask you to sign up for anything, and doesn't collect the information you type into the deadline calculator or the move-in documentation tool. Those two tools run entirely in your browser: the dates and answers you enter into the calculator, and the photos and text you add in the documentation tool, are processed on your device and are never transmitted to us or stored on any server we control. We verified this directly - see "How we verified this" below.

What we do collect

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which automatically injects a generic, privacy-focused page-view analytics beacon (Cloudflare Web Analytics) into every page. It reports things like which page was viewed, referring site, and load timing - it does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not receive anything you type into either tool. We use this only to see which pages get traffic; we don't use it to identify individual visitors. SeeCloudflare's Web Analytics pagefor how that works.

The site also loads webfont files from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which is a standard font-delivery service and does not receive any calculator or documentation-tool input either. See Google's privacy policyfor their side of that.

We do not set any cookies of our own, run advertising trackers, or sell or share any data, because we don't collect any data about you to sell or share in the first place.

The affiliate link

The calculator's results page sometimes includes a link to Rocket Lawyer's demand-letter tool, routed through an affiliate service called Sovrn Commerce. If you click that link, you leave this site, and Sovrn's and Rocket Lawyer's own privacy policies and tracking practices apply from that point on - we don't control what happens on their side, and clicking the link is entirely your choice. We disclose this affiliate relationship next to the link itself.

How we verified this

Rather than just asserting these claims, we checked them directly using the browser's own network activity log (performance.getEntriesByType('resource')) on the live site, before and after fully using the calculator with real inputs. The request count and the list of external hosts contacted were identical before and after - meaning using the calculator triggered zero additional network requests of any kind. The only external hosts contacted by any page on this site are the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon and Google's font-delivery hosts, described above.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from any visitor.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or how it works ever changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
